Noah ParkerFollow this guide to transfer employees between departments while keeping approvals and reporting accurate. Department transfer updates organizational structure, reporting lines, and manager ownership inside Payrun.

Go to Settings from the left sidebar.
Click Employees.
Select the Departments tab at the top.
If you need to transfer the employee to a new department, then you have to create a new department, and then you can transfer to that newly created department.
The page shows all departments and the employees assigned to each.

Find the department that contains the employee.
Click “X employee works here” to open the employee list.
A panel appears showing all employees under that department.

Locate the employee you want to transfer.
Click the Move / Change Department icon beside the employee.
The Change Department window will open.

Select the new department from the dropdown list.
The current department is shown at the top for reference.
Only available departments appear in the selection list.

Choose Department Effective From date.
Click Save to complete the transfer.

Important notes:
The effective date can be any past date, today, or future date.
Once transferred, the employee’s previous data becomes pending under the new department.
The new department manager must review and approve that employee data again.
Reporting hierarchy updates automatically.
Manager approval workflow resets for the new department.
Historical records remain intact for tracking and audits.
Payroll, attendance, and approvals follow the new department from the effective date.
