Noah ParkerMicrosoft Teams Notification Channels in Payrun let you send selected Payrun event notifications directly to channels in Microsoft Teams.
You can connect your Microsoft account, choose a Team and channel for each Payrun notification category, and control which individual events should send notifications. This helps your team receive relevant Payrun updates inside Microsoft Teams without checking Payrun for every activity.
Before you start, make sure you:
Can access Settings > Notification Channels in Payrun.
Have access to the Microsoft account you want to connect.
Have access to the required Microsoft Teams teams and channels.
Can approve the permissions requested during Microsoft authorization.
A Microsoft Teams connection is required before you can configure Teams channel routing and individual event notifications.
To access the settings:
Sign in to Payrun.
Go to Settings from the left sidebar.
Select Notification Channels.
Find Microsoft Teams under Channel connections.

If Microsoft Teams is not connected, a Connect button appears beside it.
To connect Microsoft Teams:
Go to Settings > Notification Channels.
Find Microsoft Teams under Channel connections.
Click Connect.
Payrun redirects you to Microsoft's authorization process.
Sign in to or select the Microsoft account you want to use, if prompted.
Review the permissions requested by Payrun.

Click Accept to authorize the connection.
Return to Payrun to configure Microsoft Teams routing.
Review the account and requested permissions before you approve the connection.
After authorization, Payrun opens the Set up Microsoft Teams routing window.
The setup screen lists Payrun notification categories and lets you choose a Team and channel for each category.

To configure routing:
Find the notification category you want to configure.
Use the Team dropdown to select the required Microsoft Team.
Click Select a channel beside it.
Choose the channel that should receive notifications for that category.
Repeat the process for other categories you want to configure.
Click Finish setup when you are done.
You can route different Payrun categories to different Teams channels based on how your organization communicates.
The Microsoft Teams routing setup shown in Payrun includes:
Attendance
Leave
Timesheet
Hiring
Organization
Payroll
Employee
Expense
Each category contains individual Payrun events that can be controlled separately.
Available categories and events may change as Payrun's notification options are updated.
Payrun gives you two options during the initial Microsoft Teams routing setup.
Click Finish setup after you choose the Teams and channels you want to use.
The configured routing becomes available under Categories & channel routing, where you can manage channels and individual event notifications.
Click Skip for now if you want to connect Microsoft Teams without configuring notification routing immediately.
You can return to Settings > Notification Channels later and set up the required categories and channels.
Important: Channel routing and event activation are separate. Assigning a Microsoft Teams channel does not automatically enable every event in that category.
Payrun uses two parts to control Microsoft Teams notifications:
Channel routing determines where an event notification should go.
Event selection determines which Payrun events should send notifications.
For example, you can route Attendance notifications to a particular Team and channel. You can then choose which Attendance events should actually send notifications.
Both settings must be configured for the notifications you want your team to receive.
After Microsoft Teams is connected, the Categories & channel routing section becomes available.
Each category shows information about its current configuration, including:
Assigned Microsoft Teams channel
Number of enabled events
Channels control
Individual events when the category is expanded
To view the events:
Go to Settings > Notification Channels.
Find the required category.
Click the arrow beside the category name.
Review the individual events inside the category.
Click the arrow again to collapse the category.
You can configure the destination for a notification category after the initial setup.
Go to Settings > Notification Channels.
Find the category you want to configure.
Click Channels beside the category.
Select the required Microsoft Team and channel.
Confirm that the required individual events are enabled.
If no Microsoft Teams destination is assigned, the category displays No channel.
After you configure the destination channel, choose which Payrun events should generate Microsoft Teams notifications.
To enable an event:
Open Settings > Notification Channels.
Expand the required category.
Confirm that a Microsoft Teams channel is assigned.
Find the event you want to receive.
Turn on the switch under Microsoft Teams.
Repeat the process for other required events.
An enabled switch means that the event is selected for Microsoft Teams notifications.
An inactive switch means Payrun will not push that event notification to Microsoft Teams.
You can stop an individual notification without disconnecting Microsoft Teams.
Go to Settings > Notification Channels.
Expand the relevant category.
Find the event you want to stop.
Turn off its Microsoft Teams switch.
Other enabled events can continue to send notifications through the connected Microsoft Teams account.
After Microsoft Teams is successfully connected, the blue Connect button changes to a green Connected status.
To review the connection:
Go to Settings > Notification Channels.
Find Microsoft Teams under Channel connections.
Click Connected.
Payrun opens the Manage Microsoft Teams window.
The window displays connection details such as:
Connection status
Connected account or workspace identifier
Who connected Microsoft Teams
Connection date
The Disconnect option is also available from this window.
To disconnect Microsoft Teams from Payrun:
Go to Settings > Notification Channels.
Click Connected beside Microsoft Teams.

Click Disconnect in the Manage Microsoft Teams window.

Review the confirmation message.
Click Disconnect again to confirm.

Select Close if you want to cancel the action and keep Microsoft Teams connected.
Payrun shows the effect of the disconnection before you confirm it.
The confirmation message identifies how many categories and events currently have Microsoft Teams channels associated with them.
For example, the message may show:
Disconnecting will remove channels from 0 categories, 0 events.
The numbers depend on your current notification configuration.
After Microsoft Teams is disconnected, Payrun can no longer route affected event notifications through that connection.
You must reconnect Microsoft Teams and configure the required routing if you want to resume those notifications later.
