How To Connect Payrun MCP Server With Claude

The Payrun MCP (Model Context Protocol) server allows Claude to securely access supported information from your Payrun workspace. Once connected, Claude can answer questions about employee data, attendance, leave, projects, and other supported records based on your Payrun account permissions.
Important
The Payrun MCP server is available only for Pro and Ultimate subscriptions.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
A Payrun Pro or Ultimate subscription.
An active Claude account (Free, Pro, or Max).
Permission to access your Payrun workspace.
Internet connectivity.
Connect Payrun On Claude Free
Claude Free users must connect Payrun by adding a custom connector.
Step 1: Open The Connectors Menu
Open Claude.
Click the + button.
Select Connectors.
Click Add Connector.
Select Add Custom Connector.
Step 2: Enter The Connector Details
Complete the following fields:
Name
Payrun
Connector URL
https://mcp.payrun.app/v2/connect
Leave the optional OAuth fields empty.
Click Add.
Step 3: Authorize The Connection
Claude redirects you to the Payrun authorization page.
Review the requested permissions and click Approve.
Step 4: Verify The Connection
After authorization, Claude returns to the conversation and displays a Connected to Payrun notification.
Connect Payrun On Claude Pro Or Max
Claude Pro and Max users can install Payrun directly from the Connector Directory.
Step 1: Open The Connector Directory
Open Claude.
Click the + button.
Select Connectors.
Click Add Connector.
Select Browse Connectors.
Step 2: Search For Payrun
Search for Payrun.
Select the Payrun connector from the results.
Note
The Connector Directory is available only on Claude Pro and Claude Max.
Step 3: Authorize Access
Claude redirects you to Payrun.
Review the requested permissions and click Approve.
Step 4: Confirm The Connection
Claude automatically returns to the conversation.
A notification appears confirming the connection has been established successfully.
Enable The Payrun Connector
After connecting Payrun, enable it for the conversation where you want Claude to access your Payrun data.
Open a conversation.
Click the + button.
Select Connectors.
Turn on Payrun.
Once enabled, Claude can use your Payrun data in that conversation.
Security
The Payrun MCP server uses secure OAuth authentication.
Your Payrun password is never shared with Claude.
The connection provides read-only access.
Claude cannot create, update, approve, or delete Payrun data.
Access always follows your existing Payrun permissions.
Disconnect The Payrun Connector
Open Claude Settings.
Select Connectors.
Locate Payrun.
Disconnect or remove the connector.
Troubleshooting
Payrun Is Missing From Browse Connectors
The Browse Connectors directory is available only for Claude Pro and Max accounts. If you use the free version of Claude, connect Payrun by adding the custom connector URL instead.
Authorization Failed
Sign in to your Payrun account and repeat the authorization process.
Claude Cannot Access Payrun Data
Make sure the Payrun connector is enabled for the current conversation.
Connection Failed
Remove the connector and reconnect it using the appropriate method for your Claude account.
